It is my pleasure to introduce you to Monique. Monique will be graduating from university soon with majors in English and history and a minor in classics. She hopes to continue her education and pursue her masters in social work after graduation. I met Monique several days ago in a shoe store where she works part time as a clerk. After leaving with my purchase I regretted not asking for her portrait for the 100 strangers project. I had to return for another purchase and decided not to make the same mistake twice. After explaining the project to her, she agreed to let me take her photo. Apparently it is not uncommon for her to be asked for her picture and I can understand why. Thank you Monique for agreeing to help me with my photography project. I hope you were pleased with the photo I selected. As promised, I will bring you prints of the best shots...Observations: I think I am usually in too much of a hurry to take my photos so as not to take up too much of my subject's time and in this case to get some good shots before the next customer arrived. I wanted to use the store lighting but although it appeared bright I had to increase the ISO quite a bit to get a fast enough shutter speed for a hand held shot. Changing from my 18 - 200 zoom to my 50mm 1.8 likely would have helped but I didn't bring all my equipment into the store so I resorted to the on camera flash which is less than ideal. I am pleased with the shots I selected but would welcome the opportunity to take more photos of Monique when there is more time for experimentation with different lens and lighting combinations...This picture is the 28th portrait in my efforts to complete the100 strangers project to help improve my photography skills. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers on the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page http://www.flickr.com/groups/100strangers/ and on the 100 strangers web site http://www.100strangers.com/ . .
